Thomas Aschenbrener retired as the founder and president of Northwest Health Foundation as the capstone of a 40-plus-year career in health philanthropy. He continues to engage in supporting nonprofits that advance community justice, equity, inclusion and diversity. He regularly mentors young professionals in their career growth. He is on the board of Outside In in Portland and is on the advisory committee for the dean of the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at OSU. He also is a founding board member of EngAged Oregon, a program for bringing arts education to seniors. Although raised Catholic in Dubuque, Iowa, Thomas later found his home in the Episcopal community. He has been at Trinity for over 30 years, joining the Episcopal Church when he moved to Portland in 1983; in the early 2000’s he was active on Trinity’s Stewardship Committee. Thomas and his husband Richard Neuman have three children and six grandchildren.
