The Rev. Canon Raggs Ragan
Raggs was raised in Southern California. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University and a M.Div. from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, where she is currently working on a DMin, exploring ways of being with the dying in various faith traditions. Before coming to Trinity, Raggs served as a premarital counselor at Stanford Memorial Church and staff liturgist at Saint Mark’s Palo Alto. She then became Minister for Christian Family Education at Transfiguration in San Mateo. After the Rector took a position with the national church, she became interim Assistant Dean of the Stanford Chapel, and then back on staff at Saint Mark’s Palo Alto while working as a research assistant at Stanford. Raggs then spent 17 years as Chaplain at Rowland Hall-Saint Mark’s School in Salt Lake City. In 2006, she came to Oregon to be Rector of Saint James in Tigard. In her spare time, Raggs loves to read, garden, hang out with her three cats, do research and writing, explore languages, attend the live theater and opera, as well as go to action movies. Raggs is the mother of two sons, Jonathan and Min, who are both currently completing their PhDs, Jonathan at MIT, Min at UCBerkeley. When they come to town, they all spend time together at Powell’s City of Books, and the Chinese and Japanese Gardens.
