Priscilla Cowell grew up in San Marino, California and has degrees from Stanford and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She and her husband Nick lived and worked for 17 years in six developing countries: Chile, Samoa, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal, and Namibia. She worked on Ford Foundation and USAID projects that developed literacy curriculum and trained teachers. In Portland she was learning specialist at Catlin Gabel School, taught classes at OMSI, and served on a Citizen Review Board, overseeing the case management of children in foster care. She enjoys theater, travel, chamber music, playing pool volleyball, and activities with her two Portland grandsons.
