Safe Haven By Sidnee Snell-An Exhibition of Textile Paintings
On exhibit thru March 5, Kempton Hall. For Portland textile artist Sidnee Snell, it all starts with an observation. She uses everyday objects or views as her inspiration. She creates heavily stitched, complex applique quilts based on photographic images. "My quilts are really paintings using fabric and stitch," she explains. Sidnee reinterprets her inspirations, eliminating details and highlighting color and texture with fabric and stitch to capture a moment in time or to reveal a beauty that is often otherwise overlooked.
